The future of hotels is changing, what with the world of technology constantly updating and new features and devices being released so often. The ways in which customers would book rooms and even check-in and out is no longer the same and it is only going to get more different in the coming years. With this in mind, here are some of the major changes that hospitalitynet.org believe will occur in the near future.
Mobile Payments
We have already seen mobile payments come into play over the past year with the likes of Apple Pay being implemented, and it is only going to become increasingly popular. Hotels and restaurants have begun to notice this new payment method and are now beginning to allow customers to pay using their smartphones, although it is imperative that even more begin to adapt to this new payment method.
Customer Service
We can’t deny that social media has really taken over a lot of ways we run things, and when it comes to customer service, this is no different. Think about it, how many times do you see people taking to Facebook or Twitter to complain about a service they have received? More and more times people are using the platforms to raise complaints and a lot of the time, staff will reply to the customers directly on the sites too. There does seem to be space for social media customer service growth within this area and it is the perfect way for hotels to build engagement, loyalty and a brand presence.
Mobile services
Mobile services will begin to take over where the traditional concierge and general hotel services once were. Hotels that don’t already have apps will begin to use them within their marketing efforts and also as a way to offer guests information on the hotel and the dining and attractions that are available around the area.We may even start to see mobile apps offering restaurant services, in which customers can actually order their dinner through the app while staying at hotels!
